<i>Kansas City, MO</i> - The Business Technology Association (BTA) has named Ron Hulett, president and CEO of U.S. Business Systems Inc., located in Elkhart, Ind., its 2012 Volunteer of the Year. Hulett, who currently serves as president of the BTA Mid-America district, was presented with the award on May 3 by 2011-12 BTA President Tom Ouellette during BTA Mid-America?s Gateway to Success event held in St. Louis, Mo.<img src="http://www.ombe.com/Customer_Photos/BTA/Hulette.jpg" style="padding:6px;float:RIGHT;" alt="http://www.ombe.com/Customer_Photos/BTA/Hulette.jpg" /><br />

       "I'm pleased to announce the recipient of the 2012 BTA Volunteer of the Year Award, a gentleman who stepped forward several years ago to give back to the association,? Ouellette said as he presented the award." He has served as an outstanding and loyal member of the national BTA Board of Directors for the past three years, and has been nominated to serve as BTA's 2012-13 national vice president. He has also played a key role in helping to plan and organize BTA Mid-America's Gateway to Success. It is my privilege to present the 2012 BTA Volunteer of the Year Award to the current president of the BTA Mid-America district and our emcee for this event — Ron Hulett."<br />

<br />
      Hulett formed U.S. Business Systems Inc. in 1992 with three business partners after he worked for a short time at another independent dealership. His dealership has since grown into a two-facility business with 30 employees. The $4 million-plus dealership serves northern Indiana and southern Michigan. It represents Sharp and Lanier, and sells and supports many different office technology products, as well as workflow and document management software.<br />

       "Thank you to the national BTA Board of Directors, the BTA staff and the dealer community for the recognition as 2012 Volunteer of the Year," Hulett said. "It has been a great experience serving the Mid-America district dealer community in the national board's efforts to provide excellent services, training and the many benefits to dealer members. <br />

      "I have been richly rewarded with the experience and look forward to the next few years as I begin to serve on the national officer team," he continued. Top 2012 Channel’s Choice Award<br />

<i>Kansas City, MO</i> — Toshiba America Business Solutions (TABS) was recently presented with the 2012 Channel’s Choice Superior Performance award by the Business Technology Association (BTA). Paul Cox, senior district sales manager, accepted the coveted award on May 2 from 2012-13 BTA President-Elect Terry Chapman during a reception at BTA Mid-America's Gateway to Success event at the Four Seasons Hotel in St. Louis, Mo. This is the 13th time TABS has received BTA’s top award since the Channel’s Choice Awards were established in 1989. In addition, TABS received Channel’s Choice awards in three other performance categories: Corporate Support, Distribution and Inventory. <br />
<br />
"The BTA Superior Performance award is a prestigious honor for Toshiba and a crucial indicator from independent dealers about our company's overall performance in the marketplace," said Mark Mathews, president and CEO, TABS. "Our sixth straight and 13th overall recognition is a great testament to our independent dealers' dedication to Toshiba, and our team's commitment to setting a standard in dealer programs, as well as delivering industry-leading products and services."<br />
<br />
Two other vendors were also presented with 2012 Channel’s Choice awards at the BTA Mid-America reception. Muratec America Inc. received an award for its Outstanding Performance as a Secondary Product Line Provider. It was accepted by Jim D’Emidio, president of Muratec America. This is the ninth time Muratec has received the award. Copystar received the 2012 Channel’s Choice award for Product Line. The award was accepted by Bob Burke, vice president of sales.<br />
<br />
Earlier this year, BTA mailed ballots to all of its dealer members and a number of dealers outside of its membership. The association also posted the ballot on the BTA website and encouraged the industry’s hardware vendors to provide their dealers with a link to the ballot for them to submit online. The ballot asked dealers to rate their primary and secondary line vendors in key performance categories. The balloting results determined the Channel’s Choice award winners. BTA received 455 completed ballots.<br />
<br />
“BTA's annual Channel’s Choice awards program provides dealers with a means of recognizing and honoring those vendors that are the most supportive of the dealer channel,” Chapman said. “Through the years, we have honored a number of deserving vendors for their outstanding product lines and exceptional levels of performance and dealer support. We congratulate Toshiba, Muratec and Copystar, and express our sincere thanks for their exceptional support of the BTA channel.”<br />

 Announces Launch of PRO Dealer Group</b></font><br />
<b><i>Dealer members to share best practices, etc.</i></b><br />

<i>Kansas City, MO</i> — The Business Technology Association’s (BTA; <a href="http://www.bta.org" target="_blank">www.bta.org</a>) has launched a new office technology industry dealer peer collaboration group focused on bringing non-competing dealers together to share best practices and further strengthen the revenue performance of each member dealership. PRO Dealer Group currently has 15 founding member dealerships and is now opening the group to additional members.<br />
<br />
"In today's competitive marketplace, it is very important for dealers to ensure they have strategically positioned their companies for ongoing success," said PRO Dealer Group President Matt Jackson, president of Copynet Office Systems Inc., Plano Texas. "Through interaction on a regular basis with non-competing fellow dealers, our members will be able to better plan for ongoing future success by gaining insight and sharing business practice ideas from one another. In addition, our group's relationship with Strategic Business Associates (SBA) will help each of us identify the best means to improve the profitability of our companies."<br />
<br />
SBA is a business and management consulting service led by John Hey and John Hanson that works with leading entrepreneurs in the U.S. office technology industry. Through an annual survey process, members of the PRO Dealer Group will submit their financial information to SBA. The information will be confidentially organized, analyzed and placed into a President's Report so that each member can see how his or her dealership is doing as compared to the aggregate of the other members and learn from the process with SBA's guidance.<br />
<br />

<i>Kansas City, MO</i> — On May 1-2 in St. Louis, Mo., the Business Technology Association (BTA; <a href="http://www.bta.org" target="_blank">www.bta.org</a>) and Growth Achievement Partners (<a href="http://www.growthachievementpartners.com" target="_blank">www.growthachievementpartners.com</a>) will host the BTA Managed Services (MS) Workshop. Attendees will receive free registration to BTA Mid-America’s Gateway to Success district event, to be held May 2-4 in St. Louis.<br />

Taught by Mitch Morgan and Chris Ryne of Growth Achievement Partners, the day-and-a-half BTA MS Workshop will show you how to set up a managed services business in your company. Areas of focus will include: the phases of the MS process, financial targets, packaging of services, MS systems and processes, staffing, dealing with competition and the MS sales process.  <br />
<br />
MS provides a tremendous market for MFP dealers. The small- to medium-sized business (SMB) customer is receptive to a new way of supporting its internal IT environment. The shift is occurring now, and forward-looking dealers have an opportunity to build a customer base in this growing market today. Once the shift occurs, winning new business will mean replacing the incumbent provider.<br />
<br />
MS offers a more cost-effective way for your customers to manage their current spending on IT support. The service features monitoring of network devices and ongoing administration using the latest in automation tools. As an example, utilizing mature technology tools, a help-desk technician can support eight to 12 times the number of devices that an on-site resource can manage. This equates to 300 to 400 workstation devices per technician. It is simply a better way to manage the network using more technology and automation and less labor. And, there are the benefits of centralization. Proactive support means the computer tells you there is an issue before the system crashes. You fix it before it breaks and send an invoice every month.<br />
